Orlando Sharks Announce Inaugural Home Opener
Orlando, Fla. - (June 1, 2007) – A new era in Central Florida professional sports officially kicks off on Friday, October 26 when the Major Indoor Soccer League’s (MISL) expansion-entrant Orlando Sharks takes to the field at the Amway Arena (formerly T.D. Waterhouse Centre) for the team’s first regular season game. Kickoff for the “Opening Night Gala” is scheduled for 7:35pm.
“After almost two years of planning and engaging in community programs throughout Central Florida in the run-up to our launch, it is very exciting to have a pin on the calendar marking the official start of our inaugural season,” said Sharks president Rich Bradley. “Now the fun really starts!”
The Sharks will host 15 regular homes games, each with a party theme attached to the night during the 2007-08 MISL regular season which stretches from late October to early April. Bradley said the team will probably open the season on the road for one of its 15 away games the week prior to the Opening Night Gala and hopes to broadcast the event back to the Central Florida area as part of its season long television package.
The remainder of the Sharks home schedule will be released by the MISL in August or early September. Sharks season tickets go on sale to the general public today as well and can be purchased only through the club by calling (407) 403-6300.
