The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and Fox Soccer Channel today announced the “Game of the Week” telecast schedule for the 2007/08 season. The 20-game schedule – the most comprehensive national television coverage in the league’s seven-year history – features all U.S.-based MISL teams appearing at least four times. Most matches will air live on Fridays during the 8-10:00 p.m. ET broadcast window.
“There is a high level of enthusiasm exhibited from our Member Clubs regarding our partnership with Fox Soccer Channel,” commented MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan. “As we plan for our first telecast on November 16, the discussions with our clubs clearly indicate our eagerness to showcase our made-for-television sport to the Fox Soccer Channel audience.”
The expansion Orlando Sharks and New Jersey Ironmen and the California Cougars and each appear five times, while the 2007 championship finalist Detroit Ignition and the Milwaukee Wave each make four appearances. Chicago Storm faithful have the opportunity to see their two-time post-season participants six times on Fox Soccer Channel this season, while the defending champion Philadelphia KiXX and the Baltimore Blast each make five appearances.
"The Sharks' five appearances on Fox Soccer Channel will be a huge asset to our team in Orlando”, added Orlando Sharks team President Rich Bradley. “We know that we will sell tickets locally to a portion of our 50 million annual visitors to Central Florida, many of whom will be aware of the Sharks from the Fox Soccer Channel game of the week package."
The 20-match regular season telecast schedule kicks off on Friday, November 16 with the three-time MISL champion Baltimore Blast hosting the expansion La Raza, live at 8:00 p.m. ET. The complete schedule, listed below, concludes on March 28, 2008, with the Chicago Storm hosting the California Cougars.
