Sharks Fall Short In Comeback vs. Blast

SHARKS HANG TOUGH BUT COMEBACK FALLS SHORT

(Baltimore, MD-November 10, 2007)-The Orlando Sharks took their show on the road for the first time this season as they traveled to Baltimore to take on the three-time MISL Champion Blast for the second time in a week.  The outcome was virtually identical to the first meeting at Amway Arena in Orlando on November 3rd as the Sharks came out on the wrong end of a 14-7 loss in front of a raucous crowd at the 1st Mariner Arena in downtown Baltimore.  The Sharks are now 0-3 on the young season as they get ready to head to Milwaukee next Saturday for their second consecutive road game.

Baltimore once again proved why they are one of the top teams in the league this season as they showed their experience from the opening kick.  The Blast were led by Forward Denison Cabral who powered in two goals in the first quarter and by Forward Machel Millwood who tallied one goal and two assists.

Sharks Head Coach Jake Dancy did his best to keep the team in the game and showed how with a little more seasoning and experience the Sharks will reach the elite level and eventually climb to the top of the league standings themselves.  The team played with heart and determination as they battled all night and proved they will not roll over for anyone in this, their inaugural season.

The offensive attack for The Sharks was led by several players who notched their first goals of the season.  Goal-Keeper Paul Nagy stood out and showed that he will keep the Sharks competitive in every game this season as he turned away countless chances and came away with 13 saves.

In the opening quarter, Baltimore unleashed a vicious attack as they scored 4 goals in the first six minutes of the game but the Sharks weathered the storm with a goal by Forward Simba Harris, his first of the season, which kept the Blast within striking distance at 8-2 after one.

The second quarter started and finished the same way the first ended with the Sharks hanging tough and keeping the Blast off the scoreboard for the entire period, while Mid-Fielder Dion Jagroo hit on a 3-point goal five minutes in to cut the score to 8-5 at the half.

The second half opened up just at the first ended with the Sharks defense and Goal-Keeper Paul Nagy turning the Blast away for the first fourteen and a half minutes until Blast Forward Machel Milwood scored on a power play.  Sharks Mid-Fielder Micki Djerisilo scored his first goal of the season four and a half minutes into the third quarter to cut the Blast lead to 8-7 as the Sharks battled their way to a 10-7 deficit heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter began the way the game started as Blast Forward Michael Todd scored just two and a half minutes into the period followed by a goal by Defender P.J. Wakefield only three minutes later to make the score 14-7 Baltimore mid-way through the final period.  The Sharks regained their composure and kept the Blast off the board for the final nine minutes of the game, once again showing their heart and determination to finish strong.
