(Dec. 1, 2007, Orlando, Fl) Playing their second game is as many nights, the Orlando Sharks lost in a defensive struggle to the Chicago Storm. The game began in what looked to be a high-scoring shoot out with both teams scoring within the first twenty seconds; however the game settled into a defensive battle with all three of Chicago’s scores coming on three-point goals.
Eight seconds into the game Fabinho of the Storm scored on a three-point goal; in less than ten seconds Sharks forward Chris Cerroni answered with a two-point shot. The remainder of the quarter was a defensive struggle with Orlando killing a power play with only seconds to go.
The highlight of the second quarter was a goal by Sharks midfielder Ainsley Romany. This marked the first time that Orlando took a lead into halftime.
With only six minutes left in the third quarter, the Storm’s Stephen Armstrong scored the first of his two three-point goals on the night in a quarter that was marked by stellar defense by both teams.
Early in the fourth quarter, Armstrong scored his second three-point goal and the last score for Chicago in the game. With three minutes left, Orlando coach Jake Dancy pulled goalie Antonio Iriarte, who was playing in his second consecutive game, and replaced him with defenseman JP Rodrigues. In this daring move, the Sharks made an all out attack on the Storm, with Rodrigues retreating back to goal only once. Chicago’s defense stiffened and Orlando was unable to score.
In the end, the Sharks dropped another game in a tough loss to a very good Chicago Storm team. The final score was Chicago 9 Orlando 4.
