Sharks' Winning Streak Blasted In Baltimore

The Orlando Sharks took their three-game winning streak to Baltimore as they met the Blast for the third time this season. As in their previous wins, the Sharks got off to a lightning-quick start with a goal from defenseman Bill Sedgewick assisted by forward Shawn Boney, just thirteen seconds into the game. Minutes later the Blast, on a power play, evened the score with a goal from forward Machel Millwood. Halfway through the quarter the Blast struck again with a two-pointer by forward Carlos Garcia. Two minutes later, forward Adauto Neto scored, extending the Blast lead by four. The Blast added four more points with goals from Millwood, his second, and another goal by Neto. When the dust settled and the quarter ended, Baltimore was in a commanding lead 10-2.

The Blast began the second quarter on a power play and quickly capitalized with a goal by forward Denison Cabral. Four minutes later, Baltimore was awarded a penalty kick and the Blast delivered with a goal by Cabral. Moments later, Cabral got the hat trick with another two-point score. With seconds remaining in the half, Millwood recorded his hat trick which made the score Baltimore Blast 18, Orlando Sharks 2.

The Blast continued their scoring blitz five minutes into the third quarter with another goal by Millwood, his fourth. The Sharks finally got back into the scoring column with a goal by forward Damien Pottinger assisted by midfielder Miki Djerisilo. The Blast countered with a two-pointer by Garcia, his second. With two minutes remaining in the quarter, Boney slammed in a two point goal off an assist by defenseman Anthony Santiago. With seconds left in the quarter, Blast defenseman PJ Wakefield scored the first three-point goal of the game on a Baltimore power play. At the end of three, the score was Baltimore 25, Orlando 6.

Four minutes into the fourth, Sharks forward Chris Cerroni fired a laser shot into goal for a three-pointer. Seconds later, Djerisilo netted a goal with another assist by Santiago. With nine minutes left in the game, Orlando was mounting a charge. Baltimore seemed content to sit on their lead passing the ball around in their end without attacking- running precious minutes off the clock. With the Sharks pressing, Pottinger netted his second goal of the game with an assist by defenseman JP Rodrigues. It the end it was too little too late as the Orlando Sharks’ winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Baltimore Blast with the final score Baltimore 25, Orlando 13. The Sharks will have an opportunity to avenge their loss next Saturday night as they play the Blast at the Amway Arena.
